Experienced Carpenter’s Mate / Multi-Skilled Operative – Full-Time Position
McGarry Contracts is looking for an experienced Carpenter’s Mate / Multi-Skilled Operative to join our established team working on high-quality residential and specialist construction projects.
This position is intended for someone with genuine practical site experience who is confident assisting qualified carpenters and undertaking skilled tasks independently. It is not a general labouring or entry-level position.
The successful applicant must also be willing to muck in with general site duties when required and contribute to the smooth running, cleanliness and organisation of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting carpenters with first-fix and second-fix works
- Measuring, cutting and preparing timber and sheet materials
- Confidently using standard hand and power tools
- Carrying out minor carpentry, making-good and general skilled building tasks
- Assisting other trades and undertaking general site duties when required
- Handling materials, deliveries and site set-up
- Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised working environment
- Working independently and following instructions from the site foreman
What We’re Looking For
- At least ’ relevant construction-site experience
- Previous experience working directly alongside qualified carpenters
- Good practical carpentry knowledge and confidence using tools
- Reliable, hardworking and punctual
- Able to work independently and use initiative
- Willing to undertake varied duties and muck in as part of the wider site team
- Good understanding of site safety
- CSCS card preferred
- Own transport would be an advantage
