Job Summary
The Sub-Assembly Fitter is responsible for putting together smaller components (sub-assemblies) that will later be integrated into the final product. Working in a manufacturing or production line environment, this role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure the main assembly line runs smoothly.
Duties
- Component Assembly: Assemble mechanical, or structural sub-components accurately using hand tools, power tools, and specialized factory equipment.
- Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret technical drawings and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure correct assembly.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished sub-assemblies for defects, missing parts, or alignment issues. Report any manufacturing flaws to the supervisor immediately.
- Machine Operation: Safely operate assembly machinery, presses, or testing equipment as required.
- Maintenance & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace (adhering to 6S principles) and perform basic maintenance on tools.
Experience
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing, factory, or warehouse assembly environment is preferred but not always required (on-the-job training is often provided).
- Technical Skills: Ability to use a variety of hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, pneumatic drills).
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy to ensure tiny or complex components are fitted perfectly.
- Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small parts.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift components (often up to 15–20 kg).
- Communication: Good verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written technical instructions.
Working Conditions
- Based on a factory or manufacturing plant floor.
- May involve shift work (days, afternoons, nights, or weekends).
- Requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety boots, high-visibility vests, safety glasses, or ear protection.
Pay: £15.36-£15.88 per hour
