Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Education Project Manager (Part-Time) to lead and develop Paiwand's Supplementary Education Project. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting the educational achievement and wellbeing of children and young people from refugee and migrant communities.
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the project, coordinate educational programmes, supervise community teachers and volunteers, and build strong relationships with parents, partner schools and other stakeholders. You will also ensure that the project is delivered effectively while maintaining high standards of teaching, safeguarding and learner achievement.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and project management skills, strong communication and leadership abilities, and a passion for improving educational outcomes within diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Project Management
- Lead and manage the Supplementary Education Project.
- Develop and promote a positive vision for the Saturday School.
- Supervise, support and motivate community teachers and volunteers.
- Provide regular supervision, guidance and constructive feedback to staff.
- Organise staff training and professional development where required.
- Attend regular supervision meetings with the Project Director.
Teaching and Learning
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all classes.
- Monitor the quality of teaching and learner progress.
- Support teachers with lesson planning and educational resources.
- Ensure educational programmes meet learners' individual needs.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment where every child can achieve their potential.
Student Support
- Monitor student attendance, behaviour and achievement.
- Support children experiencing poor attendance and work closely with their families.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Respond appropriately to student feedback and implement improvements where appropriate.
Partnership Working
- Build and maintain effective relationships with parents, carers and partner schools.
- Work collaboratively with local schools and community organisations.
- Promote strong links between Paiwand and the wider community.
- Encourage parental involvement in children's education.
- Organise community events, educational workshops and engagement activities.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Carry out risk assessments where appropriate.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and safeguarding concerns.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor student attendance and educational progress.
- Prepare weekly attendance reports and termly progress reports for partner schools and senior management.
- Produce annual reports on student attendance and achievement.
- Provide updates on the performance of community teachers and volunteers.
- Monitor project performance and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Resource Management
- Manage educational resources effectively.
- Assist with ordering teaching materials and equipment.
- Ensure resources are used efficiently and responsibly.
- Support the effective management of the learning environment.
Essential Criteria
We are looking for someone who has:
Experience
- Experience working with children, young people and families.
- Experience working with refugee, asylum-seeking or ethnically diverse communities.
- Experience managing or coordinating educational, community or youth projects.
- Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.
- Experience working collaboratively with schools and external partners.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation.
- Understanding of the educational needs of children and young people.
- Knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by refugee and asylum-seeking communities.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate and support a team.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, schools and partner organisations.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
- Ability to analyse information and make informed decisions.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a school or supplementary education setting.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant educational qualification.
- Experience working with community organisations or charities.
- Full UK driving licence.
