Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Commis Chef / Chef de Partie to join our happy team at Felixstowe's award-winning Spa Pavilion Theatre. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes from fresh ingredients, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the overall kitchen operations. Previous kitchen experience and a genuine enthusiasm for food preparation are essential for this position. We're also interested meet less experienced, younger candidates for a trainee kitchen assistant position.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment
- Deputise in the absence of senior team members, to ensure smooth operations
- Follow food safety protocols at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Contribute to menu development by suggesting new ideas and improvements
- Assist with meal presentation to ensure dishes are served attractively
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to meet quality standards and customer expectations
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience in meal preparation and food prep techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous restaurant experience or serving background is advantageous but not essential
- A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in the kitchen

The salary agreed will be enhanced by the addition of a share of gratuities, and the working pattern is unusual in that we currently do not open evenings unless we have a theatre show, usually we have one a week. This means that most shifts are day time.

Pay: £26,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
