Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tailor/Seamstress specialising in alterations to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality tailoring services, ensuring garments are fitted perfectly to meet clients’ specifications. Duties
- Alter and adjust garments such as dresses, suits, trousers, and shirts to achieve precise fit and finish.
- Sew and mend clothing items using hand and machine sewing techniques.
- Consult with clients to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on alterations.
- Measure clients accurately and interpret their needs into tailored modifications.
- Ensure all alterations meet quality standards and are completed within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are properly cared for.
- Keep records of work performed on each garment for future reference or repeat orders.
Experience
- Proven experience as a tailor or seamstress, particularly in alterations work.
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines and hand sewing techniques.
- Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and fitting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of precision in measurements and stitching.
- Ability to interpret client requests accurately and deliver customised solutions.
- Previous experience working with a diverse range of fabrics and garment types is desirable. This role is ideal for dedicated professionals who take pride in their craftsmanship and strive for excellence in every alteration they undertake.
Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
