About Claverton Cloches
Claverton Cloches makes cast-iron garden cloches, architectural plant supports, hose reels and terracotta - pieces designed to last for generations. Some are made in our Frome workshop, while others are made for us by a small number of craftspeople and specialist makers.
Every piece that leaves the workshop carries our name, so the quality of what goes out the door matters enormously to us.
The Role
This is a hands-on, largely self-directed role at the centre of our workshop and fulfilment operation. You’ll own the packing and fulfilment of customer orders and the quality checking of our products, working quickly and carefully to make sure everything that leaves Frome is exactly as it should be.
Alongside this, you’ll be responsible for keeping the workshop running smoothly — from finishing work and processing returns to stock management, packing materials and general workshop organisation.
You’ll report directly to the Founder and work closely with our Operations Lead, while largely managing your own day-to-day workload once up to speed.
This would suit someone practical, reliable and well-organised, who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in a tidy workshop and can be trusted to keep things running smoothly day to day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Packing and fulfilling customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Quality-checking every product before it’s dispatched, with a genuinely sharp eye for detail
- Preparing orders to a high standard, ensuring products are well protected and beautifully presented
- Using our fulfilment and warehouse management software to send orders, print shipping labels and manifests, and track inventory
- Carrying out finishing work and practical workshop tasks
- Processing returns and replacement parts
- Keeping the workshop tidy, organised and well-stocked
- Managing stock levels across finished products, packaging materials, spare parts and workshop sundries
- Ordering packaging, sundries and workshop materials when required
- Very occasionally helping with nearby collections or drop-offs, where needed
- Flagging quality, stock or fulfilment issues quickly and clearly
- Suggesting practical improvements to make the workshop more efficient as the business grows
What We’re Looking For
Above all, we are looking for someone reliable, punctual and highly organised: someone who takes pride in keeping things running properly, notices what needs doing, and can be trusted to manage their day-to-day workload without constant supervision.
Most important:
- Reliable and punctual: you turn up when you say you will and can be counted on
- Highly organised, tidy and methodical: you take real pride in a well-run workshop
- A sharp eye for detail: you notice what others miss
- The ability to work quickly and conscientiously: pace without cutting corners
- Self-motivated and practical: happy to get stuck in and keep things moving
Also essential:
- Some warehouse, manual, fulfilment or practical work experience
- Comfortable with manual handling: some of our pieces are heavy cast iron, and this is an active role with much of the day spent moving around the workshop
- Good IT literacy: comfortable using fulfilment and warehouse management software to send orders, print shipping labels and manifests, track stock levels, update inventory records and order materials when needed
Desirable:
- A full, valid UK driving licence
- Experience packing fragile, heavy or high-value products
- A natural eye for process improvement: happy to flag better ways of doing things as the workshop grows
- Experience in a small business, workshop, warehouse, garden, interiors or product-led environment
