We are looking for a Level 3 qualified Spa/Beauty Therapist to join The Gainsborough in a more senior, hands-on role as one of our Duty Manager Spa Therapists.
This is ideal for an experienced therapist who loves delivering treatments but is also ready to take more responsibility for the day-to-day running of a boutique health club and spa.
You’ll still spend part of your week doing what you do best - creating brilliant treatments and memorable experiences for our guests and members, but you’ll also act as a senior presence within the club, helping lead the team, oversee reception and ensure The Gainsborough runs smoothly from opening through to closing.

The Role
As a Duty Manager / Spa Therapist, you’ll be one of the people trusted to take responsibility for the club while on shift.
Your role will include:
- Performing a range of spa and beauty treatments including massage, facials and pedicures.
- Delivering personalised consultations and recommending suitable treatments and products.
- Acting as a senior point of contact for guests, members and colleagues while on duty.
- Opening and closing the club, including unlocking and securely locking the building.
- Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the spa and health club during your shift.
- Covering and overseeing the reception desk, including welcoming guests and members, answering enquiries, taking bookings and handling payments.
- Supporting and guiding therapists, spa hosts and health club assistants throughout their shifts.
- Helping coordinate breaks, treatment schedules and operational priorities during the day.
- Ensuring treatment rooms, reception, changing areas and leisure facilities are presented to our expected standards.
- Handling guest or member queries and resolving problems confidently and professionally.
- Completing opening, closing and operational checks.
- Ensuring health, safety, cleanliness and hygiene procedures are followed throughout the club.
- Keeping accurate client and treatment records.
- Supporting stock control and ensuring treatment and retail areas remain well presented.
- Promoting treatments, spa experiences, memberships and retail products where appropriate.
- Helping maintain the friendly, relaxed and premium atmosphere The Gainsborough is known for.
- Supporting the Operations Manager and wider management team with the day-to-day running of the business.
We are very much an all-rounder team at The Gainsborough. Although treatments will be an important part of your role, you should be equally comfortable greeting somebody at reception, helping a colleague, checking the pool area, solving a guest problem or taking responsibility for the building at the end of the day.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is confident, dependable and naturally good with people.
You should:
- Be Level 3 qualified in Beauty Therapy.
- Be confident carrying out massage and facial treatments.
- Have previous experience working as a Spa Therapist, Beauty Therapist or similar.
- Ideally have experience supervising others, acting as a senior therapist or taking responsibility for a shift.
- Be confident working independently and making sensible decisions when required.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Be organised and comfortable balancing treatments with operational responsibilities.
- Have a strong understanding of cleanliness, hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Be comfortable using booking systems, handling payments and working on reception.
- Enjoy working as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Be outgoing, positive and approachable.
- Take pride in creating an exceptional experience rather than simply delivering a treatment.
Previous Duty Manager experience would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. If you’re an experienced therapist who feels ready to take the next step into a more senior role, we’d still love to hear from you.

We combine the atmosphere and personal service of a small independent spa with a health club, gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, relaxation spaces, treatments and café.
