The West Hants Club is Bournemouth's premier members club, dedicated to providing exceptional facilities and services for a variety of sports activities.
We are currently recruiting a Chef de Partie (Full-Time - 40 hours per week only). We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual who is passionate about food, eager to develop new culinary skills, and able to support senior members of the kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic kitchen environment where quality, consistency, and teamwork are highly valued.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as part of the team to maintain consistency in work practices in the Chefs’ absence.
- Take responsibility for the security of the kitchen, including locking and securing all fridges and cupboards.
- Carry out all duties to the highest standard at all times, including:
a) Preparing and servicing all dishes to the standards set by the Head Chef and Sous Chef.
b) Maintaining high hygiene and cleanliness standards within the kitchen.
c) Supporting the smooth running kitchen.
d) Assisting with the delivery of tournaments, functions, and special events.
e) Collaborating with the Head Chef and Sous Chef on menu creation, recipes, and new dish development.
f) Assisting with the management and implementation of Health & Safety procedures.
g) Monitoring portion control and minimising waste.
h) Ensuring kitchen maintenance and food safety standards are consistently upheld.
i) In the absence of a Kitchen Porter, ensuring wash-up and waste areas remain clean and organised, with support from the wider team.
Candidate Requirements / Preferences
- A genuine passion for food and culinary excellence
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (essential)
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and reliable, with a positive and proactive attitude
- Ability to work a 40-hour week, including some weekends (no split shifts)
- Salary £27,000-28,000
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday (8-hour shifts):
- 08:00 – 16:00
- 13:00 – 21:00
- Saturday & Sunday:
- 08:00 – 16:00
