RSD Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of an established independent builders merchant for an experienced Assistant Branch Manager.
This is a hands-on management role supporting the day-to-day running of a busy branch. Working alongside the Branch Manager, you'll help lead the team, maintain high operational standards and ensure the branch continues to deliver a reliable service to both trade and retail customers.
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a builders merchant or a similar trade environment, with the ability to manage people, improve day-to-day operations and support the continued growth of the branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Branch Manager with the day-to-day running of the branch.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Ensure the branch operates efficiently across the warehouse, yard and trade counter.
- Monitor stock levels and work with the wider team to maintain product availability.
- Support sales activity by ensuring excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
- Help improve operational processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiency.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
- Step into the Branch Manager's responsibilities when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- Experience working within a builders merchant or similar trade environment.
- Previous experience supervising or managing a team.
- A practical, hands-on approach to leadership.
- The ability to train, support and develop staff.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- A strong understanding of branch operations and customer service.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to make decisions and solve problems.
- A good understanding of health and safety within an operational environment.
