Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, dedicated and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our specialist team providing support for Looked After Children in residential care. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Assistant Psychologists and care teams, delivering direct therapeutic support and contributing to the ongoing development of our growing highly specialised services. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a reflective mindset, and a commitment to ethical, person-centred practice.

Location: A key part of this role will be working with residential care homes for Looked After Children in the North London area including Camden, Islington and Haringey. This will involve working onsite and remotely. There will be opportunities for the successful applicant to be involved in other clinical work with children, young people and adults and therefore a willingness to travel to other locations is essential.
Hours: Full-time or Part Time (Up to 37.5 hours per week, excluding travel)

You will:
● Assist in psychological assessments and interventions
● Provide 1:1 therapeutic support
● Contribute to behaviour and support planning
● Work collaboratively with clients, their families, carers and staff teams
● Participate in reflective supervision and ongoing professional development

Essential Criteria
● Undergraduate degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1 classification)
● Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
● A minimum of one year’s experience working as an Assistant Psychologist within the NHS or independent sector.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Excellent time management skills
● Full clean driving license and access to a vehicle
Desirable
● Previous experience in applied or clinical psychology settings, ideally in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) including working with Looked After Children and their carers AND/OR prior experience as a Support Worker within residential childcare services.
● Prior experience of using psychometric testing materials such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and the Adaptive Behaviour Assessment Scale.
