Teqniq is searching for a Civic Engagement Manager to work in the public sector.
Job Description:
1. To plan and deliver an annual civic engagement events plan, to encompass the large scale corporate civic events (Annual Meeting civic reception, Holocaust Memorial Day, Remembrance Sunday, and Armed Forces Day), flag raising events, receptions and community events, twinning activities, freedom of authority activities, and other events in line with corporate priorities.
2. To ensure that the Speaker and Mayor’s Civic events and engagements are implemented and delivered effectively and efficiently, provide value for money and positively support the reputation of the Speaker, Mayor and the Authority.
3. To work closely with the Speaker to ensure that his/her civic responsibilities and priorities are delivered effectively.
4. To manage all Speaker engagements, advise the Speaker on protocol as required including awareness of sensitive or controversial issues. To ensure the Speaker is fully briefed for all engagements, and to research and prepare speeches as appropriate.
5. To support key civic engagement events and meetings for the Mayor, and ensure that the Mayor and Speaker’s civic engagement plans are aligned and supported.
6. To ensure that each new Speaker is inducted into their role and that appropriate protocols and guidelines are in place and followed.
7. To support the Speaker’s fundraising plans and activities, and the successful delivery of his/her targets for their chosen causes.
8. To critically review and reflect on the delivery of events and look for new ideas and opportunities in order to continuously improve future delivery. To seek and review feedback and to continually benchmark, exchange and implement best practice from other authorities.
9. To act as overall lead Civic Officer for the authority, ensuring that dependable advice is given to the Speaker, the Mayor, the Chief Executive and others on all aspects of civic ceremonial and protocol.
10.To promote civic engagement and local democracy, including management of the civic vaults and Town Hall tours, and delivering events during Local Democracy Week.
11. To be responsible for the maintenance and security of Hackney’s civic regalia (e.g. badges, chains and maces), and Speaker artefacts, maintaining an inventory of items and ensuring appropriate policies and risk assessments are in place.
12.To ensure civic macebearer arrangements are in place.
