Overview
We are looking a skilled team of interpreters to facilitate effective communication between legal staff and private clients who speak Somali.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to translate spoken conversations accurately and efficiently.
We are an immigration law firm, so the interpretation work will be for client consultations and other legal meetings.
This role is crucial in ensuring that we can communicate clearly with our clients for the purpose of their legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time interpretation services for client consultations
- Translate spoken dialogue between clients and legal staff, ensuring accurate conveyance of messages
- Assist in the preparation of materials for interpretation, including reviewing relevant documents
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times during interactions
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their specific needs and preferences.
- Type up notes or summaries of discussions IF required, ensuring clarity and precision in documentation
Experience
- Proven experience as a Somali interpreter or in a similar role is preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and at least one other language (Somali) is essential; additional languages are a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and clearly
- Familiarity with interpreting techniques and protocols is advantageous
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy
