McTaggart Construction is looking for an experienced Telehandler Operator to join our team on an affordable housing development in Strawberry Corner, Wallyford, East Lothian.
You'll play an important part in supporting the day-to-day operation of the site by moving materials safely and efficiently, helping tradespeople and ensuring work areas remain organised. You will also be expected to assist at other local sites when required.
What you'll do
- Safely operate a telehandler to move materials, equipment and supplies around the site.
- Load and unload deliveries, ensuring materials are stored safely and in the correct locations.
- Carry out daily checks and basic maintenance of the telehandler, including cleaning and refuelling.
- Support tradespeople and subcontractors with day-to-day site activities.
- Assist with general labouring duties as required when machine not in use.
- Help keep the site safe, clean and organised.
- Follow waste management and recycling requirements across the site.
- Maintain records relating to telehandler inspections and operation.
- Report any equipment defects, incidents or safety concerns to the Site Manager.
- Follow site rules, procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
- Work closely with the wider site team to support the smooth running of the project.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience operating a telehandler within a construction environment.
- Valid CPCS telehandler qualification.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Good understanding of site health and safety requirements.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
- Able to follow instructions and work using your own initiative.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual tasks.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
- First Aid qualification is desirable.
- Manual Handling certification is desirable.
- Fire Awareness training is desirable.
