Overview
Harveys Laundry is an independent commercial laundry that has been established in Glasgow for over 30 years. We are looking for two permanent part-time delivery drivers to join our busy team based near Ibrox.
The role involves delivering and collecting laundry hampers from hotels, restaurants and hospitality venues across Central Scotland.
Our delivery routes cover Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Loch Lomond, Stirling, Helensburgh and Inveraray.
We operate a fleet of Mercedes and Ford vans weighing up to 3.5 tonnes.
Working Hours
The working days are:
Shifts generally start at around 7:00am and finish between 1:00pm and 3:00pm, depending on the route.
Routes follow a regular weekly schedule, and each route covers a single geographical area. However, as we provide a flexible service to meet our customers' needs, additional deliveries may be added at short notice.
Once you have completed your scheduled route and returned to the depot, you may be allocated an additional delivery to a different area, depending on our customers' needs.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive company vans to deliver clean laundry and collect soiled laundry from commercial customers.
- Load and unload laundry hampers and bags, carrying out heavy lifting and manual handling throughout the day.
- Complete deliveries and collections accurately and on time, ensuring customer orders remain separate and correctly labelled.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or issues to the office.
- Complete delivery and collection paperwork accurately.
- Maintain regular communication with the office regarding your progress, delays or any issues on your route.
- Provide a friendly, polite and professional service to all customers.
- Follow all company procedures.
Please note that this is a physically demanding role. Some routes may involve delivering approximately 100 bags and collecting a similar quantity.
Skills and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A valid driving licence (a UK driving licence is preferred).
- Experience driving 3.5-tonne vans.
- Comfortable in a physically demanding role that requires regular heavy lifting and manual handling.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A reliable, flexible and professional approach to work.
Pay: £13.15 per hour
