We are one of the country’s top performing NHS Foundation Trusts, looking after the wellbeing of around half a million people across Northumberland and North Tyneside – one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in England. Recent CQC inspection rated Northumbria Health Care Trust as outstanding overall.
The successful candidate will work in our Emergency Department. They would work evening shifts, weekends and night shifts. They would work alongside the whole Emergency Department Consultant team.
All emergency care is performed at our emergency hospital, NSECH, which opened in 2015. We also have a dedicated Ambulatory Care Unit which opened in June 2019 to help decompress our emergency department and improve the quality of care for ambulatory patients which we recognize as being an increasing need. Access to diagnostic imaging is excellent at NSECH and is key to our ability to manage the emergency workload efficiently. Part of the role of the successful candidate will be to help coordinate and improve the delivery of the emergency services.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality – opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.
