We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to support young people in our community programmes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering positive development, providing mentorship, and creating a safe environment for children and teenagers. Performing Arts alongside Youth Work is at the heart of Inspire's offer to young people. The performing arts offer at Inspire includes a variety of opportunities for the young people to explore the visual arts, music, dance, drama and performance skills. As a memebr of the performing arts team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and creative Dance/Performance programme that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental.
You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of a single or range of arts activities in line with your own specialism, enabling young people to explore their creativity and grow their skills.
We are looking for a range of talented youth arts workers to make up a team with a diverse set of skills and expertise who are also passionate about working with young people, ideally you will have experience delivering in one or more of the following areas:
- Dance
- Drama
- Basic Gymnastics
- Cheerleading
- Musical Theatre
- Acting
- Script work
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of young people
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to children and teenagers, promoting their personal growth and well-being
- Assist in organising group sessions, workshops, and recreational events
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external organisations to support programme objectives
- Monitor behaviour and intervene appropriately to address any issues or concerns
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and behavioural incidents
- Promote positive communication and conflict resolution skills among participants
Experience
- Previous experience working with children or in youth programmes is highly desirable
- Knowledge of teaching methods, mentoring techniques, and youth engagement strategies
- Experience with special education needs or working within inclusive environments is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding policies and child protection procedures
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, or social care are preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
