Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Head of Care for our Children’s Residential facility. The successful candidate will lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality care services, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of children in our care. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a deep understanding of specialised care needs including dementia care, assisted living, and medication administration. The Head of Care will be responsible for managing a dedicated team of care professionals, developing personalised care plans, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the care team to ensure the delivery of outstanding residential care tailored to each child's needs.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with children’s families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee medication administration processes in accordance with legal and organisational policies.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children by maintaining high standards of safeguarding and risk management.
- Manage staff rotas, organise training sessions, and promote continuous professional development within the team.
- Monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies related to children’s residential care.
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes emotional growth, independence, and social skills among children.
- Liaise with external agencies such as health services, social workers, and educational providers to coordinate holistic support.
- Maintain accurate records related to care plans, incident reports, and staff supervision.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments specialising in children’s or senior care.
- Strong background in dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, or other specialised forms of support is advantageous.
- Demonstrable leadership and supervisory experience within a care home or similar setting.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and managing complex care needs.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine commitment to improving children's quality of life.
- Relevant qualifications in nursing or social care recognised within the UK (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4 in Health & Social Care).
- Ability to lead a team confidently whilst fostering a positive working environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and regulatory compliance requirements for children’s residential services.
