Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal standards, ensuring vehicles meet required safety and environmental criteria. Responsibilities
- Perform MOT tests on a variety of vehicle makes and models in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle components including brakes, lights, tyres, suspension, emissions, and other safety-critical systems.
- Accurately record test results and prepare detailed reports for each vehicle tested.
- Identify repair needs or issues that require attention beyond the scope of the MOT test and communicate findings effectively to customers or management.
- Maintain testing equipment and tools to ensure accuracy and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with current MOT legislation, testing procedures, and industry best practices.
- Ensure the workshop environment remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience working on vehicles or in an automotive environment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
- Previous experience conducting MOT tests is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
- Good communication skills to explain findings clearly to customers or colleagues.
- A valid UK driving licence is preferred to facilitate vehicle movement within the premises if required. This role is vital in maintaining high safety standards within our workshop, ensuring all vehicles meet legal requirements before they are driven on public roads. Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
