Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Shunter and FLT (Forklift Truck) Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently maneuvering heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) within the yard, ensuring smooth vehicle movements, and safely operating forklift trucks to handle goods and materials. Duties
- Safely shunt HGVs around the yard, aligning vehicles for loading, unloading, or parking with precision and care
- Operate forklift trucks to load, unload, and position goods accurately within the warehouse or yard area
- Assist with the safe movement of trailers and containers, ensuring compliance with safety protocols at all times
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly to ensure operational safety
- Support delivery drivers by preparing vehicles for departure, including securing loads on flatbeds or other transport equipment
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, load details, and yard activities to ensure smooth operations
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to coordinate efficient loading/unloading schedules and optimize space utilization
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HGV driver with a valid commercial driving license (such as Category C+E)
- Previous experience operating forklift trucks in a commercial setting, with relevant certification or licensing
- Strong understanding of flatbed handling and securing loads safely during transport
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to commercial driving and forklift operation
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating reliability and excellent time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude towards safety and teamwork
