The Front Office/Restaurant Assistant will be responsible for supporting Senior Management in the Daily Operations of our small, Country House Hotel & Restaurant near Lampeter, Ceredigion, West Wales. You will need to be motivated and well organised. You will need good communication skills, and a clear understanding of what your GENERAL MANAGER requires. You will need the ability to work both as part of a team, and be able to lead from the front. You will be expected to provide your GENERAL MANAGER with all the support they need, and have a positive and flexible attitude towards your working environment.
40 hours per week or 2 x 20 hours per week job share positions available
As a small property, this is a hands on position suited to a outgoing, happy to "muck in" type of person.

- To assist the management in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the department and take full responsibility in their absence.
- To complete all Standard Reception Duties as laid out in the Company manual including Guest relations, Reservations, Booking Administration and internal paperwork
- The preparation of Breakfast on nominated days to the Company standard
- To manage front of house when rostered on restaurant service
- Closing and cash up of restaurant when rostered
- To prepare bar and service areas following the pre-service checklist ready for service and opening.
- To ensure all staff are present at the pre-service briefing - ensuring awareness of all available items, and actively up- selling items from the menu where applicable.
- To follow Cocoon Retreats Standards & Order of Service at all times.
- To act as a final check on the quality & presentation of all items before they are served to the customer.
- To assist the management team by reporting any complaints or comments made by customers.
- To assist your colleagues, whenever and wherever possible, promoting excellent teamwork and exceeding customer expectations.
- To clean and restock all service stations and all work areas following the after service check list.
- To complete daily cleaning duties following cleaning rota and sign off.
- To assist with Housekeeping Duties when Department under pressure
- The job may also include other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.

Key Tasks
- To be fully aware of all Health & Safety Policy and Procedure relevant to your role and department.
- To be fully aware of the Company's Food Policy, and Food Handlers responsibilities in line with legislation and contractual obligations.
- To comply with all statutory & legal requirements and work in accordance with these regulations.
- To identify and report all maintenance requirements and Health & Safety hazards within your area.
STAFF MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT To assist the team in achieving a consistently high standard of performance, and continuous improvement of staff skills and attitude.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous hotel & restaurant experience is an advantage but not a requirement. This position is very much personality driven, perfect for the right kind of person who enjoys interacting with guests, takes absolute pride in the product and standards that we offer and achieve. You must have your own transport and be able to work shifts.
