This position combines direct support with shift leadership, staff guidance and responsibility for maintaining safe, consistent and child-centred practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and coordinate staff to ensure the home operates safely.
- Provide direct support to children with emotional, behavioural and trauma-related needs.
- Support care plans, risk assessments and behaviour-support plans.
- Safeguard young people and ensure concerns and incidents are recorded correctly.
- Mentor and positively role-model practice for Residential Support Workers.
- Contribute to staff induction, training and performance feedback.
- Maintain daily logs, medication records and incident reports.
- Liaise with social workers, education providers, therapists and families.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and behaviours that challenge.
- Act as the responsible person during shifts when required.
Essential requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- At least three years’ experience working with children and young people, or at least one year as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader.
- Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma-related needs and behaviours that challenge.
- Strong safeguarding and recording knowledge.
- Confidence leading shifts and coordinating staff.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins.
- The right to work in the UK.
Experience within an Ofsted-regulated home, behaviour-management training and a full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
