Giovanni’s is one of Covent Garden’s longest-established Italian restaurants. Family-run, intimate and full of character, we have built our reputation on exceptional Italian food, genuine hospitality and generations of loyal customers.
We are now looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager or an exceptional Assistant Manager ready to take the next step.
For us, the person matters more than the job title.
The Role
This is a hands-on, predominantly floor-based position.
We want our manager where a great restaurant manager should be: in the restaurant, leading the team, looking after guests and making sure every service runs beautifully.
You won’t be expected to spend hours behind a desk completing corporate reports. Routine administration and paperwork is kept to a minimum and supported by our office.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading lunch and dinner services
- Managing, motivating and developing the front-of-house team
- Maintaining exceptional standards of service and hospitality
- Rotas, staffing, recruitment and training
- Stock control, health & safety and operational standards
You’ll also build genuine relationships with both our regular customers and new guests.
Who We’re Looking For
You may already be successfully managing a restaurant, or you may currently be an Assistant Manager or Floor Manager who knows you are ready for more.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Warm, confident and naturally hospitable
- An experienced and capable floor operator
- A natural leader who leads by example
- Calm and solutions-focused under pressure
- Organised, reliable and comfortable making decisions
- Commercially aware, while never losing sight of hospitality
- Looking for a long-term opportunity
Fluent Italian and English are essential.

For an ambitious Assistant Manager, this is a genuine opportunity to step up into a full Restaurant Manager position. For an established Manager, there is the opportunity to take broader responsibility for the day-to-day operation and become a key part of the future of Giovanni’s.
Working Pattern & Package
- Approximately 45 hours per week
- Typically five evening services and three lunch services
- Two consecutive days off
- Competitive salary + tronc
- Clear financial progression as responsibility increases
This isn’t a corporate management role, and we’re not looking for someone to change everything that makes Giovanni’s special.
