We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer - Contractor to support our project team at ESCO Maritime Solutions, based in Rugeley, Staffordshire. You will play a key role in producing bespoke electrical designs that underpin the development of complex equipment for harsh and demanding environments.
There will be a requirement to be on-site 4 days a week initially and then a minimum of 2 days per week after the 3-month induction period.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced electrical schematics and control systems.
- Analyse, verify, and optimise electrical designs to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Generate technical requirements and specifications for electrical systems.
- Capture, document, and maintain electrical schematics to a high standard.
- Select suitable cables and protective devices, considering safety, function, and cost.
- Provide technical input on component selection and system configuration.
- Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Participate in internal and customer-facing meetings where required.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation in line with ESCO’s engineering procedures.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Proven experience in electrical design and system specification.
- Good working knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
- Experience in schematic capture and reviewing electrical drawings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A flexible, solutions-oriented engineering approach.
Desirable:
- Experience in the design of electrical systems for defence or industrial applications.
- Familiarity with Zuken E3.
- Knowledge of electronics, control systems, or signal processing.
