Do you have a passion for pups and the confidence to lead a team? The Poochie Palace is looking for an experienced and motivated Supervisor / Dog Groomer to join our friendly and talented team.
Since 2016, The Poochie Palace has been a well-established and growing salon with a loyal client base. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional grooming experiences for our furry clients and outstanding customer service to their paw-rents.
We are a friendly, personable salon and pride ourselves on building close and lasting relationships with our clients, getting to know both them and their dogs. We also pride ourselves on being a friendly and supportive team, creating a positive environment for both our staff and customers.
This role is offered as maternity cover for approximately 9 months, with 30–35 hours available per week. This is a key position within the salon, working closely alongside the owner on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the smooth running of the salon when the owner is absent, including overseeing the team, delegating tasks, dealing with customers and ensuring our high standards are maintained.
There may be an opportunity for a permanent position for the right candidate at the end of the temporary contract, subject to business needs.
Pay & Hours from £13.50 per hour | 30–35 hours per week Monday–Friday, with working hours arranged around the salon's schedule.
What You'll Do
- Groom 4–5 dogs per day to a consistently high professional standard
- Provide premium customer service, including answering calls, taking appointments and following up missed calls
- Maintain high standards of grooming, cleanliness and salon presentation -
- Open and close the salon, cash up and ensure the salon is clean and tidy at the end of the day
- Support, supervise and motivate other team members throughout the day
- Delegate tasks to other members of the team and help ensure the day's workload runs smoothly
- Oversee the smooth running of the salon in the owner's absence, including dealing confidently with customers and day-to-day queries
- Lead by example and help maintain consistently high salon standards
What We're Looking For
- Previous professional dog grooming experience is essential -
- City & Guilds qualification preferred, but not essential for the right candidate with strong practical experience
- An experienced and confident dog groomer able to groom 4–5 dogs per day - Strong practical grooming skills with high standards and attention to detail
- A strong customer-service focus and commitment to providing a premium experience
- Reliable, organised and professional - Confident taking responsibility and making decisions in the owner's absence
- Able to support, supervise and motivate other team members
- Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not essential
- A genuine passion for dogs and their welfare
