Sustain Homes Limited is one of the UK's leading renewable energy installation companies, delivering over 120 solar PV installations every month across the country. High-quality scaffolding is critical to the success, safety, and efficiency of every installation we complete.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and ambitious Scaffolding Business Manager to take ownership of our scaffolding operations, drive operational excellence, and lead the expansion of our national scaffolding network.
The Role
This is a senior leadership position responsible for both the day-to-day management and the strategic growth of our scaffolding business.
You will oversee all scaffolding operations supporting our solar installation programme while developing and scaling our internal scaffolding capabilities, contractor network, vehicles, teams, and operational processes.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, commercially minded, and passionate about delivering exceptional standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Manage the day-to-day running of all scaffolding operations across the business.
- Coordinate scaffold erects and strikes to support installation schedules efficiently.
- Ensure scaffold diaries and work schedules are planned and managed effectively.
- Monitor operational performance, productivity, and service delivery standards.
- Resolve operational challenges and ensure installations are completed on time.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Review every scaffolding installation to ensure it meets company and industry standards.
- Ensure all required documentation, inspection records, and compliance paperwork are captured accurately and maintained.
- Monitor health and safety performance across all scaffold operations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, legislation, and company procedures.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and operational standards.
Business Growth & Development
- Develop and grow Sustain Homes' internal scaffolding division.
- Expand fleet, operational capability, and workforce in line with business demand.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Support strategic planning and future growth initiatives.
National Contractor Network Management
- Recruit, onboard, and manage scaffolding contractors across the UK.
- Conduct due diligence and compliance checks on all new contractors.
- Ensure consistent standards, processes, and quality across the national scaffolding network.
- Monitor contractor performance and maintain strong working relationships.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong operational leadership with commercial awareness and a proven ability to build and grow successful scaffolding operations.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience within the scaffolding industry.
- Previous experience managing scaffolding operations, teams, or businesses.
- Strong understanding of scaffolding compliance, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Experience managing schedules, logistics, and workforce planning.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience growing a scaffolding business or regional operation.
- Experience managing subcontractor and contractor networks.
- Knowledge of renewable energy, roofing, or construction sectors.
- CISRS qualification or equivalent industry credentials.
