We Are Gateway is a growing manufacturing business specialising in chassis, fabrication and modular solutions. As we continue to grow and raise our quality standards, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on Quality Team Leader to lead our small Quality Control team.
This is not a desk-based management role. You will be visible across our factories, working closely with Production, Operations and Engineering to identify issues, improve standards and help us achieve right-first-time quality.
The role
You will lead and support our Quality Controllers, coordinating their daily workload and ensuring inspections are completed effectively and at the correct stages of production.
You will take ownership of day-to-day quality issues, non-conformances and corrective actions, while supporting the continued effectiveness of our ISO 9001 quality management system and compliance with EN 1090.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and developing the Quality Controllers
- Planning daily inspection priorities in line with production requirements
- Ensuring incoming, in-process and final inspections are completed and recorded
- Confirming products meet drawings, specifications and customer requirements
- Identifying, containing and reporting non-conforming products
- Leading or supporting root-cause investigations and corrective actions
- Monitoring repeat defects, rework and quality trends
- Supporting ISO 9001, EN 1090 and Factory Production Control requirements
- Maintaining accurate inspection, traceability and quality records
- Supporting internal, customer and external certification audits
- Working with Production teams to improve processes and prevent repeat issues
- Ensuring measuring and inspection equipment is appropriately controlled and calibrated
- Providing clear and practical quality information to managers
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong quality inspection or quality-control experience within manufacturing or engineering
- Has experience leading, coordinating or coaching others
- Can confidently interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Is experienced in using relevant measuring and inspection equipment
- Understands non-conformance control, root-cause analysis and corrective action
- Is confident challenging standards constructively when something is not right
- Is organised, consistent and committed to following actions through
- Can work collaboratively with Production while remaining objective about quality
Experience within welding, fabrication, modular or heavy manufacturing would be particularly beneficial. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and EN 1090 would also be a strong advantage.
What we are looking for
You will be a visible and approachable leader who is comfortable spending time on the factory floor. You will be calm under pressure, focused on facts and solutions, and confident enough to place products on hold or escalate concerns when required.
You must be able to balance the practical needs of production with our responsibility to protect product quality and our customers.
Why join We Are Gateway?
This is an opportunity to lead and shape the Quality team within a growing UK manufacturing business. You will have the opportunity to influence standards, improve processes and make a visible difference across the business.
If you are a practical quality professional who enjoys working closely with production teams and wants to help build a strong right-first-time culture, we would love to hear from you.
