Senior HGV / Heavy Plant Engineer

About the Role
A leading supplier of specialist construction and heavy equipment is seeking an experienced Senior HGV / Heavy Plant Engineer to join its engineering team based in Bicester.
This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of heavy machinery and specialist equipment. The successful candidate will work both in a modern workshop environment and on customer sites, supporting equipment reliability and delivering high levels of technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance activities across a range of heavy equipment
- Fault-find and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems
- Carry out inspections, testing, and commissioning of equipment before dispatch and following repairs
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers when required
- Attend customer sites to diagnose faults and carry out repairs
- Deliver professional customer service and technical advice on-site
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop and engineering function
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Senior HGV Engineer, Heavy Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems
- Experience working with diagnostics, CANbus systems, PLC controls, and fault-finding processes
- Ability to work independently in both workshop and field-based environments
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities
