Overview
The Technical Football and Pathways Lead will help improve the quality, consistency and ambition of football delivery across Westside FC, SMSC, District Football and pathway programmes. The role will combine technical coaching leadership, coach development, player identification and programme growth, while creating stronger opportunities for talented players.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Develop and implement a clear football curriculum across Westside, District Football and pathway sessions.
- Observe coaches at training, matches and programme sessions, providing practical feedback and support.
- Deliver high-quality masterclasses, player-development sessions and coach CPD.
- Help ensure consistent coaching and player-development standards across all football programmes.
District and Pathway Development
- Support the delivery and development of District Football and pathway programmes.
- Identify and recruit suitable players through schools, grassroots clubs, fixtures and SMSC programmes.
- Build strong relationships with schools, clubs and local coaches to improve player referrals.
- Track player progress and create clear routes between pathways, District Football, Westside and academy opportunities.
Academy Links and Player Opportunities
- Develop strong links with professional academy clubs, scouts and academy recruitment teams.
- Arrange fixtures, festivals, showcase matches and development opportunities.
- Create opportunities for talented players across all SMSC and Westside programmes to be seen and challenged.
- Maintain professional communication with players, parents, coaches and academy contacts.
Coach and Programme Development
- Mentor coaches and team managers and support their technical development.
- Help create and grow new football programmes, sessions and player-development opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Football and the wider SMSC and Westside team.
- Contribute ideas and evidence to support the continued growth of football provision.
- Observe coaches at training, matches and programme sessions, providing practical feedback and support.

Experience
- UEFA B Licence.
- Experience working within a professional academy or academy environment.
- Strong track record of coaching and developing young players.
- Ability to identify talent and recruit players into development programmes.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
- Experience developing or growing football programmes.
- Availability for evening and weekend work.
Desirable
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Established relationships with professional clubs, academies or scouts.
- Experience delivering coach education or mentoring coaches.
- Experience working across grassroots, schools, pathways and representative football.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
- Experience developing or growing football programmes.
- Availability for evening and weekend work.
