Job Summary
We the Yarborough Arms are a family owned business with a brilliant team and excellent reputation are seeking a passionate and energetic Part-Time Chef/Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. In this role, we will need a level of flexibility, working 2 to 3 weekends per month, with other shifts being in the week day/evening over 2 to 3 days, you will be responsible for preparing from scratch, delicious high-quality meals that delight our customers and uphold our commitment to food excellence. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your culinary talents, working in a lively environment and contributing to memorable dining experiences. Whether you're have many years experienced or someone who in more junior in their experience we would appreciate the drive to develop, bring enthusiasm and dedication.
Whilst the initial role is for 2 days per week there is also a level of flexibility and the need to be available to cover holidays.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items with precision and creativity, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Follow established recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards to deliver exceptional dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with meal assembly, plating, and serving to ensure timely delivery during busy service periods.
- Monitor inventory levels, report shortages, and help with stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Support team members during peak hours by efficiently managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure all food safety regulations are followed diligently to provide safe dining experiences for guests.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles within a restaurant or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work part-time hours with flexibility during evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Understanding of meal preparation processes and serving procedures.
- Prior restaurant experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for culinary arts is essential.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a busy kitchen environment.
- Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate
