Job Role
The CNC Turning Machinist role is based in the workshop, working on our fixed head CNC lathes and driven tool CNC lathes with Fanuc controls (experience with Siemens & Siemens Shop-Turn would be a bonus). The role includes all aspects of machining:
- Create and modify programs online at the machine control.
- Set all tools, work holding and datums on the machines.
- Select the most appropriate tooling and toolholders for the application.
- Ensure parts are held using the correct work holding.
- Find solutions to machining related challenges to ensure parts are correct to drawing specifications, both dimensionally and aesthetically.
- Deburr, polish and carry out finishing processes to achieve high-quality parts.
- Use measurement equipment to inspect parts during setting and production run.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will be working in a small team within a manufacturing environment and be able to communicate well and share manufacturing ideas amongst the team. Good attention to detail is essential along with a strong background in machining, particularly on CNC lathes. Experience manufacturing complex parts in a vast range of materials, sizes and batch sizes is required. A proven track record in machining parts with tight tolerances, typically 10 to 20 microns, would be beneficial. A thorough understanding of technical drawings, GD&T and extensive knowledge of cutting tool selection is also important. Training will be provided were needed.
