We are looking for a Night Care Assistant to join our friendly team at Roscarrack House, a small residential care home in Falmouth.
We pride ourselves on creating a warm, homely environment where our residents are treated with dignity, kindness and respect. As a Night Care Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring our residents are safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night.
PLEASE NOTE: Roscarrack House does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
Shift Pattern:
Night shifts are 8:30pm – 7:30am (11 hours).
This position works on a permanent four-week rolling rota:
Week 1: Friday night
Week 2: Saturday night
Week 3: Wednesday night
Week 4: Saturday night
This equates to 44 contracted hours over four weeks – an average of 11 hours per week.
There are also opportunities to pick up additional hours on both day and night shifts, subject to availability.
Key Responsibilities
As a Night Care Assistant, your duties will include:
- Providing high-quality, person-centred care throughout the night.
- Supporting residents with personal care while promoting dignity, choice and independence.
- Assisting residents with getting ready for bed and getting ready for the day where required.
- Responding promptly and appropriately to residents' needs and call bells.
- Providing reassurance, companionship and emotional support.
- Supporting residents with mobility and repositioning in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Monitoring residents' physical and emotional wellbeing and immediately reporting any changes or concerns to the senior member of staff on duty.
- Accurately completing residents' care records and other required documentation.
- Administering medication once all required medication training, competency assessments and sign-offs have been successfully completed.
- Completing housekeeping, laundry and other duties required to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming home.
- Maintaining residents' privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and the home's policies and procedures.
- Working as an active and supportive member of the care team and contributing to a positive working environment.
What We're Looking For

- Comfortable using basic IT systems to complete care documentation.
- Able to follow care plans and instructions accurately.
- Able to remain calm and professional in a busy care environment.
- Willing to complete all required mandatory training.
- Willing and able to undertake medication administration training and competency assessments as part of the role.
Previous experience within a care home or similar care setting is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided.
Previous medication administration experience is not essential; however, medication administration is a requirement of the role, and successful applicants will be expected to complete the necessary training and competency assessments.

Enhanced Rates of Pay:
We offer an enhanced hourly rate of pay for employees who hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social Care.
The applicable enhanced rate will depend on the qualification held and can be discussed during interview.

Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, funded by Roscarrack House.
Due to the location of the home and the night shift hours, applicants should ensure they have a reliable means of travelling to and from work.
