Holderness Groundworks & Paving Ltd is looking for an experienced Site Foreman to supervise and coordinate public realm, groundworks and civil engineering projects across the North West.
We are interested in hearing from both:
- Working Foremen who are comfortable supervising the site while remaining hands-on when required; and
- Non-Working Foremen whose role is focused on managing labour, plant, programme, quality, safety and site coordination.
The right candidate will have previous experience delivering public realm improvement schemes, including high-quality paving, kerbing, drainage and associated civil engineering works in town centres, streets and other live public environments.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Depending on your experience and preferred working style, the position may be either hands-on or fully supervisory.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising site operatives, subcontractors and plant activities
- Planning and coordinating daily works, labour, materials and deliveries
- Reading and working from construction drawings and specifications
- Managing paving, kerbing, drainage, ducting, concrete and general groundworks
- Ensuring works are completed to programme and quality requirements
- Carrying out daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions
- Completing site records, diaries, timesheets and progress reports
- Monitoring health and safety standards and ensuring RAMS are followed
- Identifying and reporting delays, variations, design issues and material requirements
- Coordinating with contracts managers, clients, site management and other contractors
- Managing works safely within live public areas while maintaining access and minimising disruption
- Undertaking practical site duties where applicable to a Working Foreman position
Essential Experience
Applicants must have:
- Previous experience working as a Foreman or Site Supervisor within civil engineering or groundworks
- Demonstrable experience delivering public realm or town-centre improvement schemes
- Strong knowledge of high-quality paving, kerbing, drainage and associated groundworks
- Experience supervising direct labour, subcontractors and plant
- The ability to read drawings, specifications and site information
- Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- A strong understanding of site health and safety requirements
- A full UK driving licence
Qualifications
The following would be advantageous:
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- CSCS Supervisor or Manager card
- First Aid at Work
- Street Works qualifications
- Plant or lifting-related qualifications
