Machine Builder
Role Summary
The Machine Builder is responsible for assembling, testing, installing, and commissioning industrial machinery and automation systems. The role requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings, perform precision mechanical assembly, support machine commissioning activities both in-house and at customer sites, and ensure all equipment meets quality, safety, and customer requirements.
This role is primarily workshop-based but will also require travel to customer sites to support machine installation, commissioning, servicing, and customer acceptance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and machine structures to engineering specifications.
- Build machinery from engineering drawings, CAD models, and assembly instructions.
- Install and align bearings, drives, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and other machine components.
- Carry out basic lathe and milling operations as required.
- Assemble and install pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Perform machine testing and fault finding during the build process.
- Support machine commissioning and validation activities.
- Install machinery and equipment at customer sites throughout the UK and overseas when required.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues during installation and commissioning activities.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, controls, and project engineering teams.
- Ensure all work is completed to company quality standards, project specifications, and delivery schedules.
- Complete build records and documentation as required.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Represent EBS Automation professionally when working at customer sites and during customer interactions.
Candidate Specification
The successful candidate will possess:
- The ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings.
- Experience in mechanical fitting and machine assembly.
- A good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive and positive approach to work.
- Willingness to travel and work on customer sites as required.
- A full UK driving licence or the ability to obtain one.
Candidates with experience in machining, including lathe and milling operations, will also be considered for this role.
