Morning Kitchen / Food Prep
£13–£15 per hour | 30–40 hours per week
About Pulp.
Pulp. is a busy, independent coffee shop, wine shop and bakery in Ealing ( West London) with a small team and a strong focus on great coffee, food and genuinely good customer service.
We care about quality, consistency and creating a relaxed, welcoming environment while running a professional and well-organised operation behind the scenes.
We’re growing as a business and developing our team for the next stage, so we’re looking for someone to join our Kitchen / Food Prep team, with the opportunity to develop their skills, take on more responsibility and grow with us.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone to join our kitchen team, particularly for morning baking and food preparation.
A big part of the role is preparing and baking our Scrollsants, Pulp's signature pastry and one of the products we're best known for, alongside preparing our wider food offering for the day.
This role involves early starts, with morning baking shifts starting from 5:30am, so reliability and being able to get to Ealing early in the morning are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking care of the morning bake
- Preparing sandwiches and ingredients for service
- General food preparation and presentation
- Following recipes and preparation sheets accurately and consistently
- Making sure food is prepared and ready on time for service
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well stocked
- Following food hygiene and cleaning procedures
- Supporting the wider team and other areas of service when needed
What We’re Looking For
Some kitchen, bakery or food-prep experience is preferred, but we're equally interested in someone organised, reliable, quick to learn and genuinely interested in food.
You should:
- Be able to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week
- Have good flexibility across the week, including weekend availability
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be comfortable with 5:30 am starts
- Work well independently and as part of a team
- Stay organised and calm when things get busy
- Care about quality, cleanliness and attention to detail
- Be able to follow recipes and instructions consistently
- Be proactive and willing to help beyond your immediate station
- Have a genuine interest in hospitality and willingness to learn
Because of the early starts, it is important that you live locally to Ealing/W5 or can reliably travel to Ealing for 5:30am shifts.
There is also scope for the right person to get involved in other areas of Pulp and develop their knowledge of food, recipe development, coffee and wine.
What We Offer
- £13–£15 per hour – your starting rate will reflect your experience, skills and level of responsibility
- 30–40 hours per week
- Paid breaks & staff lunch
- 20% staff discount
- A supportive, small team environment
- Training and opportunities to develop across food, coffee and wine
- Opportunities to take on more responsibility as you develop
- Wine tastings, staff trips & events
- A vibrant working environment with masses of energy
We're a small independent business, so everyone plays a part in making Pulp what it is. If you're hardworking, approachable, take pride in what you do and want to keep learning, we'd love to hear from you.
