GRP Laminator
We are looking for an experienced Fibreglass Manufacturing Operative to join our manufacturing team.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in the manufacture of GRP/fibreglass products using moulds and will be expected to hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
This is a hands-on manufacturing role involving the preparation of moulds, gelcoating, fibreglass lay-up, resin application, demoulding, trimming and finishing of products. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of fibreglass manufacturing processes and be able to consistently produce high-quality products to specification.
Previous experience in fibreglass/GRP manufacturing is essential. Full training will not be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture GRP/fibreglass products from existing moulds.
- Prepare and inspect moulds prior to production.
- Clean and prepare mould surfaces and apply release agents as required.
- Apply gelcoat accurately and to the required specification.
- Carry out fibreglass lay-up using appropriate reinforcement materials and techniques.
- Mix and apply resins accurately and safely.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Determine the correct materials, quantities and lay-up requirements from drawings and production information.
- Ensure products are manufactured to the correct dimensions, tolerances and specification.
- Demould finished products safely and efficiently.
- Trim, drill, finish and prepare products to the required standard.
- Carry out quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
- Identify defects or manufacturing issues and take appropriate corrective action where possible.
- Maintain moulds and report any damage, wear or issues.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area.
- Complete production records and quality documentation where required.
- Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures, particularly when working with resins, chemicals and fibreglass materials.
- Work as part of a team while also being capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Proven experience manufacturing GRP/fibreglass products is essential.
- Strong practical knowledge of fibreglass manufacturing techniques.
- Experience working with existing moulds.
- Experience with gelcoat, resin and fibreglass reinforcement materials.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing/engineering drawings.
- Ability to work accurately to dimensions, specifications and tolerances.
- Good understanding of quality control and finishing standards.
- Competent with hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Good attention to detail.
- Reliable, hardworking and committed to maintaining high production standards.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
Desirable Experience
- Experience producing bespoke or technically detailed GRP components.
- Experience working from detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with different fibreglass lay-up techniques.
- Experience with trimming, drilling, cutting and finishing GRP products.
- Experience working in a busy production/manufacturing environment.

Working Environment
This is a hands-on role within a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work efficiently and maintain high standards of workmanship throughout the production process.
The role involves working with fibreglass, resins, gelcoats and associated materials. Appropriate PPE will be provided and strict health and safety procedures must be followed.
What We Are Looking For
This position is not an entry-level training role. We are looking for someone with genuine, practical experience in GRP/fibreglass manufacturing who can join the team and become productive quickly.
The ability to read drawings, understand manufacturing requirements and produce products accurately from existing moulds is essential.
