We’re seeking a part-time Accounts Assistant with experience working in Xero to support our bookkeeping and day-to-day accounts administration. You’ll help keep our financial records accurate and support UK VAT processes, including coding and preparation for VAT submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping in Xero (including transaction coding and data entry)
- Process and code supplier bills and customer invoices
- Ensure correct UK VAT treatment (e.g., standard/reduced/exempt/zero-rated where applicable)
- Reconcile bank accounts and transactions in Xero
- Support accounts receivable/payable (including chasing outstanding invoices where needed)
- Prepare information needed for VAT reporting
- Maintain accounts inbox and respond to queries
- Support filing/record-keeping to meet internal and compliance requirements
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience in an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeping role (part-time or similar)
- Proven Xero experience (hands-on day-to-day use)
- Confident in transaction processing and VAT coding in Xero
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
- Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets)
- Clear communication skills and a proactive approach
Desirable (Nice to Have):
- Experience preparing VAT data / supporting VAT returns
- Familiarity with common UK bookkeeping processes (purchase invoices, sales invoices, bank reconciliations, journals)
- Experience with document tools (e.g., Hubdoc/Dext) or payment platforms
