Bartender – The Silver Cup, Harpenden
We are an independent award winning restaurant & pub looking for a passionate Bartender with a can do attitude who would like to progress within the team.
Built in 1838, The Silver Cup is well and truly woven into the heritage of Harpenden. Over 150 years on, it retains its charm & character whilst adopting an environment that embodies the life and soul of the community and the people within it. Having been voted as Estrella Damm's number 32 Top Gastropub UK, we are continuing to work towards accolades and building our reputation throughout the county.
Responsibilities:
- Drink Preparation: Mix ingredients to prepare classic and specialty cocktails, pour draft beers, and serve wine or spirits according to precise recipes and standards.
- Customer Service: Welcome guests, assess their preferences, offer creative menu recommendations, and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Bar Operations: Replenish inventory, stock liquor bottles, restock ice, and cut beverage garnishes.
- Hygiene & Safety: Clean and wash glassware, wipe down bar tops, sanitise surfaces, and comply with health and food safety regulations.
- Operate Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Compliance: Verify customer ID to meet legal drinking age limits and monitor guests for signs of over-intoxication to ensure responsible service.
- Cellar Maintenance
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Product Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, and mixology techniques.
- Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple drink orders and customer requests simultaneously in loud, high-pressure environments.
- Communication: Engaging interpersonal skills with the ability to problem solve, handle complaints politely and build rapport with regular guests.
- Physical: Ability to stand for long hours & lift heavy objects (e.g. kegs or crates of bottles)
Five day working week: Tuesday - Sunday.
