Full-time | £31,000 per year + tips | 42.5 hours per week
We’re looking for a confident, energetic and hands-on Assistant Manager to join the team at Café in the Park, Rickmansworth Aquadrome.
This is a busy café in a fantastic setting, with a strong local customer base and plenty of busy weekends, family visits and seasonal trade. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being at the heart of the operation and can help lead the team while delivering excellent customer service.
The Role
Working closely with the General Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day running of the café, ensuring high standards across service, staff, food, cleanliness and customer experience.
You will be expected to lead from the front, support the team during busy periods and take responsibility for the café when the General Manager is not on site.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily running of the café
- Lead and motivate the team during busy services
- Deliver consistently high standards of customer service
- Support staff training, development and performance
- Help manage rotas and ensure the café is appropriately staffed
- Monitor food, drink and service standards
- Ensure excellent standards of cleanliness, health & safety and food hygiene
- Deal confidently with customer feedback and complaints
- Assist with stock control, ordering and wastage management
- Help achieve sales, labour and GP targets
- Complete opening and closing procedures
- Support the General Manager with the smooth running of the business
- Take charge of the café in the absence of the General Manager
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality
- Is confident leading a team
- Has excellent customer service skills
- Is organised, reliable and able to work under pressure
- Leads by example and isn't afraid to get stuck in
- Has good commercial awareness
- Can communicate well with both customers and staff
- Has a positive attitude and takes pride in their work
- Understands the importance of standards and consistency
- Is available to work weekends and busy trading periods
