Due to continued growth, our client, a leading distributor within the construction materials sector, is looking to recruit an Internal Sales & Trade Counter professional to join their established branch in Livingston.
This is a varied, customer-facing role where you'll be supporting both trade and retail customers on a daily basis. You'll be working on the trade counter, handling enquiries, processing orders and quotations, and helping customers find the right products, while also identifying opportunities to generate additional sales.
Although there is an element of account management and proactive customer contact, the role is primarily branch-based and would suit someone who enjoys dealing with customers face-to-face in a busy merchant environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serving trade and retail customers on the trade counter
- Handling customer enquiries by phone, email and in person
- Processing customer orders and preparing quotations
- Building strong relationships with regular trade customers
- Following up quotations and identifying additional sales opportunities
- Contacting existing and lapsed customers to generate business where appropriate
- Liaising with suppliers and colleagues to ensure orders are fulfilled efficiently
- Supporting the day-to-day running of a busy branch
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within a builders' merchant, trade counter or construction supply environment
- Experience in an internal sales, trade counter or customer-facing sales role
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confident dealing with both trade and retail customers
- A proactive attitude and willingness to support the wider branch team
- Knowledge of construction materials or merchanting would be highly advantageous
Pay: £29,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
