We are looking for an experienced Customs Clerk to join our customs agency based in Dover. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong customs knowledge who is looking to become part of a dynamic and growing team.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in customs operations and a solid understanding of UK import and export procedures. You will be responsible for managing customs clearance activities, ensuring compliance, and providing efficient support to our customers and internal operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full customs clearance process for UK import and export shipments, including preparing declarations, checking documentation, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and resolving operational queries
- Process customs entries accurately and efficiently using CargoWise
- Liaise with customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure smooth shipment clearance
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Support the wider team with day-to-day customs operations
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in customs clearance
- Strong knowledge of UK customs procedures and legislation
- Experience handling both import and export clearances
- Experience using CargoWise
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Fast and accurate typing skills
- Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
- Flexible attitude and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Good communication skills
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, office-based role in Dover
- Remote duty rota: 1 week per month
