£23,322.00 - £31,995.60 Dependent on experience Plus car allowance (pro rata and dependent on working hours), business travel across sites reimbursed at 55p per mile.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Data Protection & Compliance Manager to join our team to support RRG Group (North & South) and HPL Motor sites. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of data protection, compliance, governance, and business integration activities across our growing automotive retail group. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for data protection matters during a period of adoption leave, while supporting the wider business in maintaining the highest standards of compliance and governance. The role offers flexibility and can be undertaken on either a full-time or part-time basis. The position will be based primarily from our head office, with regular travel to dealership locations across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Data Protection & Compliance
- Act as Deputy Data Protection Officer (DPO) and primary point of contact for data protection matters.
- Develop, review and maintain data management and privacy policies.
- Provide guidance and support to departments on meeting their legal and regulatory obligations.
- Oversee Subject Access Requests (SARs), erasure requests, rectification requests and other data rights requests.
- Investigate data incidents, breaches and compliance concerns.
- Maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
- Review and advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs).
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) requirements.
- Manage third-party processor due diligence and supplier assessments.
- Coordinate and oversee GDPR and data protection training across the business.
Audit & Governance
- Conduct annual GDPR compliance inspections across dealership locations.
- Produce compliance reports for management teams and Group Audit.
- Monitor and track actions arising from audits and compliance reviews.
- Lead compliance and governance workstreams for newly acquired dealerships.
Business Integration
- Manage GDPR onboarding and integration activities for acquired dealerships.
- Review local processes, systems and controls to identify compliance improvements.
- Drive consistency of compliance standards and practices across RRG Group North, RRG Group South and HPL operations.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Line manage the CRM and Customer Care Team where applicable.
- Provide management cover and support for the CRM and Customer Care Team.
- Act as an escalation point for serious customer complaints, regulatory matters and compliance issues.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act requirements and wider compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing data protection and compliance activities within a multi-site organisation.
- Experience handling SARs, data breaches, DPIAs and regulatory compliance matters.
- Excellent investigation, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently while influencing and supporting teams across the business.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Previous management or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel regularly between dealership locations.
- Ability to work across multiple sites as part of a growing and evolving business.
