We are currently looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
The Buchan Hotel is situated in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. We are a family run 25 bedroom Hotel offering a High Quality Scottish Breakfast to our residents and public. Our 100 cover restaurant serves a varied a la carte menu, Afternoon Teas and Sunday Carvery with a snack menu also being served in our lively Public Bar.
We also have the opportunity to do some outside catering events throughout the year.
The ideal candidate must have:
- A proven track record in the production of high quality food in a busy environment
- Demonstrable ability in leading in the absence of the head chef, motivating and training/guiding our younger chef's.
- some Financial awareness e.g. menu costing, achievement of margins.
- Full up to date knowledge of statutory food safety legislation, H&S, and COSH
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Liaison with the Front of House Staff to provide excellent customer service
- Stock control including ordering and using local produce where appropriate
- Menu production in liaison with the Kitchen team and Management
- Identify opportunities to grow the catering turnover e.g. themed nights and special menus
- Ensuring compliance with all legislation and recognized best practice.
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Passion for food
- Knowledge of current food trends
- Advance food hygiene qualification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
