Job description - the role
- Manage and execute the end-to-end transactional purchasing process, from RFQ through to order fulfilment for non-critical products and services.
- Support manufacturing programmes by ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient purchasing activity across designated commodities and categories.
- Act as a key liaison between suppliers, purchasing teams, and internal stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service and supplier support.
- Raise, manage, and progress purchase orders using ERP and e-procurement systems.
- Source products and services across assigned categories, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met.
- Maintain effective day-to-day relationships with suppliers and partners.
- Support minor sourcing projects, including negotiating annual price adjustments and managing change proposals in line with sourcing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate purchasing records and documentation.
- Support audit activities and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Previous procurement or purchasing experience, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of the purchasing lifecycle, including RFQ, purchase order management, and supplier engagement.
- Strong negotiation, planning, and organisational skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems and e-procurement tools.
Desirable skills:
- MCIPS qualification (or working towards).
- Experience with Coupa, Ivalua, or similar procurement systems.
- Knowledge of export requirements and/or MoD sourcing processes.
