We are currently hiring Residential Support Workers for our Children’s Home.
Our organization provides therapeutic residential care, focusing on understanding and meeting the unique needs of young people rather than solely addressing their challenges. We aim to create a supportive and nurturing home environment for children and young adults aged 8 to 17 with diverse backgrounds and needs.
Key Qualities We’re Looking For:
- Are you passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential?
- Do you have experience working with young people in a residential or similar setting?
- Are you skilled at building relationships that promote growth and change?
We are seeking dedicated individuals to help establish and maintain a therapeutic, child-centered home. The role requires patience, resilience, and empathy to support vulnerable young people effectively. Successful candidates will foster positive development in all areas of the young people’s lives, helping them achieve emotional stability and confidence.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold the home's Statement of Purpose and ensure its objectives are met.
- Embrace and apply the organization’s therapeutic ethos.
- Create and maintain a caring, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where young people can develop interpersonal skills, build self-esteem, and achieve a positive sense of identity.
- Work collaboratively within established policies, quality standards, and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
- Act as a key worker or co-worker for young people, ensuring care plans are regularly updated to reflect their evolving needs.
- Provide advice, guidance, and emotional support, helping young people address past and present challenges.
- Encourage positive behavior by challenging inappropriate actions and rewarding pro-social conduct.
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in residential care, education, or community settings is highly desirable.
- A strong commitment to working with vulnerable young people and an ability to adapt to dynamic backgrounds, cultures, and needs.
- Preferred candidates will hold a full UK driving license, and having an SIA certificate will be an added advantage.
- Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts, including one waking night shift per week.
Benefits:
- Paid annual leave.
- Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Workplace pension with AVIVA.
- Sponsorship to complete Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification – Children & Young People Residential Pathway.
- Attendance at paid staff meetings and group supervision.
This role is ideal for graduates in psychology, youth work, criminology, or similar fields and individuals with experience supporting vulnerable teenagers.
Please note that all successful candidates must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure check and remain registered on the update service.
Visa sponsorship is not provided.
If you are ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and contribute to their growth and development, we look forward to your application.
