Job Summary
The Lost Gardens of Heligan is an extraordinary, historic Cornish estate which has become one of the country's most popular and best loved destinations. In addition to the gardens, Heligan has its own 100 acre Home Farm. We are Red Tractor assured for lamb and beef and have been accredited as a Rare Breed Survival Trust Farm Park since 2017.
We are seeking an experienced Farm Assistant to join our small dedicated farm team.
The Farm Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare and operational safety.
Whilst this role is a fixed term contract for one year, our ambitious plans for the future may create the opportunity for the role to become a permanent working across both farm and wider estate.
We are interested in both part time and full time applicants. Some weekend working will be required.
Responsibilities
- Daily health checks, feeding, mucking out and bedding up.
- Range of tractor work.
- Ensuring public viewable areas are well prepared for the day ahead.
- Help with carrying out our regenerative grazing plan.
- Farm and estate maintenance.
- Undertake electric fencing.
- Assisting with with vaccinations and TB testing.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
- Previous experience of working with cattle and other animals and caring for them to the highest welfare standards.
- Confident and competent tractor driver.
- Experience with machinery maintenance.
- Full driving licence.
- Digger experience an advantage
Pay: £13.45 per hour
