Overview
Join our dynamic educational team as an English Tutor, where your passion for teaching and dedication to student success will make a meaningful impact. In this role, you will provide engaging, personalised instruction to learners of various ages (11-16) and skill levels, fostering confidence and fluency in English up to GCSE level. You will lead a small group of students (up to 6 with an LSA) providing personalised tuition to ensure each student reaches their academic goals. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to help others unlock their potential through effective communication and tailored teaching strategies. We anticipate that you will deliver 2 or 3 after school sessions over the school week.
Responsibilities
- Develop customized lesson plans that align with each student’s learning objectives and proficiency level
- Deliver clear, engaging instruction using a variety of teaching methods suitable for different age groups and learning styles
- Assess students’ progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement
- Create a positive, motivating classroom atmosphere that promotes active participation and confidence building
- Incorporate educational resources, multimedia tools, and interactive activities to enhance learning experiences
- Maintain accurate records of lessons, student attendance, and progress reports
- Communicate effectively with students and parents or guardians to discuss goals, challenges, and achievements
Skills
- A qualified teacher, you will have proven experience in teaching English up to Year 11 in a state school, especially with children or diverse learner populations.
- Strong communication skills to explain concepts clearly and foster an encouraging learning environment
- Knowledge of special education strategies for supporting students with unique learning needs
- Ability to adapt teaching techniques to meet individual student requirements and learning paces
- Enthusiasm for helping students develop language skills while maintaining a lively, engaging classroom presence
