9-Month Fixed-Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Engineer (Geotechnical) to join our team on a 9-month fixed-term contract or secondment basis . This role plays a key part in supporting the safe and reliable operation of the railway by managing geotechnical assets across the West Coast South Route.
Working within a collaborative and experienced engineering team, you'll be responsible for monitoring asset condition, managing risk, supporting investment decisions and ensuring that geotechnical assets continue to perform safely and effectively.
As an Asset Engineer (Geotechnical) , you will play a key role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of the railway by managing the condition, performance and risks associated with geotechnical assets across the route. Working closely with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders, you will undertake asset assessments, monitor emerging risks and provide technical expertise to support informed engineering decisions.
You will also support the development and delivery of capital investment projects, helping to ensure that available funding is targeted effectively to improve asset performance, safety and sustainability. Throughout the project lifecycle, you'll work collaboratively with project teams, designers and contractors to ensure solutions are delivered to the required operational and engineering standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the inspection, evaluation and risk management of geotechnical assets.
- Monitoring asset condition trends and implementing mitigation measures where required.
- Providing technical advice on geotechnical and ground-related risks.
- Supporting the development and delivery of capital investment projects.
- Reviewing project outputs to ensure they meet operational and engineering requirements.
- Contributing to business planning activities and investment prioritisation.
- Maintaining accurate asset records and driving continuous improvement across the geotechnical portfolio.
This is a secondment opportunity ending after 9 months.
