Job Overview
We are seeking a diligent, motivated and flexible Kitchen Porter to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen in our busy café, supporting the kitchen team with food preparation and ensuring a smooth operation. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality and culinary sectors, whether they are starting their career or looking to develop further skills in a professional environment.
The café and the shop at Sack Store are open 7 days a week but not in the evenings. Hours are negotiable and will include some weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of the kitchen team
- Ensure all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and equipment are cleaned and properly stored
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen area
- Support with organising stock and ingredients to ensure efficient workflow
- Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Assist with setting up workstations for service periods and clearing down after busy shifts
- Support the team with additional duties as required to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is advantageous but not essential
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques is desirable
Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour
