Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Cut & Carve Project

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a high-profile cut and carve project in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the transformation of an existing structure into a modern, high-spec development. The successful candidate will have strong commercial acumen and proven experience delivering complex refurbishment and structural alteration projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all commercial and cost management aspects of the project from pre-construction through to final account
- Manage procurement processes, including subcontractor selection, negotiation, and appointment
- Prepare, review, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
- Administer contracts (e.g. JCT) and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities
- Evaluate variations, claims, and change control processes
- Provide accurate financial reporting to senior management and stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior commercial staff where required
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on cut & carve, refurbishment, or structural alteration projects
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (JCT preferred)
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a complex live environment
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Membership of RICS or working towards chartership is desirable
