Job Description: Pantry Assistant
Location: Sculpture by the Lakes, Pallington Lakes, Dorchester Position: Pantry Assistant (Seasonal Summer Role – with potential for extension) Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Flexibility available for the right candidate) Start Date: Immediate
About Us
Sculpture by the Lakes is an oasis of calm and beauty set across 26 acres of Dorset countryside. Our takeaway Pantry serves high-quality drinks, snacks, and light bites to visitors looking to relax and enjoy the serene environment. We are looking for an energetic, friendly, and reliable Pantry Assistant to join our small hospitality team for the busy summer season.
The Role
As a Pantry Assistant, you will be the welcoming face of our takeaway food and beverage service. Our Pantry operates on a self-service model (including our coffee machines), so your primary focus will be providing excellent customer support on the floor, keeping the station beautifully stocked, and processing payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Support: Assist visitors as they navigate the self-service areas, including helping them operate the bean-to-cup coffee machines and answering any questions with a warm smile.
- Till Operation: Handle cash and card transactions accurately at the payment counter. Prior till experience and cash-handling knowledge are a distinct advantage.
- Stock Management: Monitor stock levels on the self-service counters, ensuring cups, lids, snacks, and cakes are constantly replenished and properly rotated (FIFO).
- Hygiene & Cleanliness: Frequently wipe down the coffee machines, counters, and guest areas to maintain impeccable standards throughout the day in line with food safety guidelines.
What We Are Looking For
- Vital Customer Service Skills: Because the food and drink are self-service, your main role is to be a welcoming, helpful, and proactive presence on the floor. A friendly, attentive attitude is absolutely essential.
- Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently and keep your composure during busy peak hours.
- Experience: Previous hospitality or retail experience is preferred—particularly with till systems and stock rotation—but a great work ethic and reliability are most important.
- Flexibility: While the standard hours are Tuesday to Saturday (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM), we can be flexible on days and hours for the right person.
Benefits
- Working in a beautiful, unique, and tranquil environment.
- Sociable daytime hours (no late nights!).
- Potential for the role to be extended beyond the summer season.
